School students in Gujarat
In the wake of a volatile situation, students in Gujarat have been protesting against the government’s decision to stop their scholarship. The students have been protesting for the last two days, demanding that the government reopens its scholarship scheme.
The closure of this scheme has led to widespread anger amongst college students who face financial hardship due to high tuition fees and other expenses attached with their studies.

Kerala floods are a series of floods that occurred in the Indian state of Kerala during the monsoon season. The flooding caused by heavy monsoon rains started on May 29, 2018 and continued for more than a month. The worst-hit regions were Idukki, Ernakulam, Malappuram, Thrissur and Palakkad districts; more than 400 people were killed in floods across these areas.[1]
As per reports from IMD (Indian Meteorological Department), it has been declared as Distress Signal No. 1 at many places across Kerala due to heavy rainfall over last 48 hours.[2]
Bihar floods and landslides
Bihar floods and landslides
In Bihar, the death toll has risen to over 3,000 people. Over 5 million people have been affected by this tragedy. The state government has ordered a probe into the cause of these floods, which it claims were caused by heavy rains in Nepal.
The affected areas include Muzaffarpur city where around 2 lakh people have been evacuated from their homes while many others are staying with their relatives or friends till they are able to return after getting things back on track
Jammu and Kashmir floods in Kashmir valley
The Jammu and Kashmir floods in Kashmir valley have claimed 115 lives and affected more than 10 million people. Incessant rains have caused landslides, submerging several areas of the state, while water levels of rivers Jhelum and Chenab rose to alarming levels.
The boat services were suspended across the state on Friday as authorities feared that rough weather conditions could cause further damage to roads and bridges. The Jhelum river is flowing above danger mark at many places including at Sabzi Mandi township (precipitation) with maximum discharge rate as much as 10000 cusecs per second (cusecs).
Protesting against the Supreme Court verdict on Ram Mandir
Protestors in Lucknow have been demanding that the Supreme Court’s verdict be overturned. The court ruled in favor of the construction of a Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, which was met with resistance from those who believe that it should not be built there because they believe this would lead to religious tensions between Hindus and Muslims.
Rahul Gandhi’s apology to Manish Sisodia
Rahul Gandhi’s apology to Manish Sisodia for his remarks about ‘anti-nationals’ and ‘traitors’ is a big step in the right direction. It shows that he understands the gravity of his words, which were highly inappropriate and hurtful towards millions of people who have sacrificed their lives for our country. This will go a long way in helping him regain trust from people across India who were deeply hurt by what they heard during his speech at an event organised by ABVP (Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad) here on Friday evening.
Manish Sisodia’s apology too was well-received by many people as it gave them hope that things can change after all these years when politicians continue to make such outrageous statements without any remorse or regret about it ever happening again
India-Pakistan hockey match at the Olympics 2018 in PyeongChang, South Korea
India’s national hockey team beat Pakistan 3-1 to claim gold at the Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea.
In the first half of play, Pakistan scored first when goalkeeper Sarthak Das kept out a low shot from Akbar Khan. But India equalized soon after with an Ashwini Rai goal that put them ahead 1-1. In the second half, Akbar scored again to give his team an early lead but then Ashwini equalized again within minutes before Manpreet Singh sealed victory with another strike late in regulation time (90+2).
Indian cricketers’ victory at the World T20 finals in India last year
The Indian cricket team won the World T20 finals in India last year, beating Pakistan by six runs to lift their first ever global trophy. The tournament was held from March 7 to April 3 and involved several teams from around the world. Here’s everything you need to know about how it went down:
- Who were they?
The Indians are one of five teams that made up Group A of this year’s World Twenty20 (WT20). They finished second after losing to Australia by four runs in their opening match; then beat South Africa by six wickets on day two; and finally beat West Indies by five runs after being put into bat by England on day three. They went on top after winning all three games at home against Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe – scoring 259 runs while conceding only 98.
- What did they win? They won their first ever WT20 title with a victory over Pakistan in Kolkata (formerly Calcutta), becoming only third team after Australia and New Zealand who have won multiple titles between them since 1987 when ICC decided that it should start awarding points for just about everything apart from winning matches – meaning there’d be no more penalty points for losing games!
